Sollie B. Norwood Lodge #699 organized in 1975 was the 1st Masonic Lodge organized on a College Campus to allow and encourage students to become members of the Masonic Order. Organized by Sollie B. Norwood (former Jackson State University staff member) under the leadership of the late H.M. Thompson, Grand Master of the state of Mississippi and a Professor at Jackson State University for many years. This lodge has always been involved with students and the University. It is estimated that more than 90% of all members initiated over the past thirty-seven (37) years are or were former students of the University. Therefore, it gives this Lodge great pleasure to partner with JSU to organize this massive voter registration drive to assure registered individuals will have the opportunity to exercise one of the most fundamental rights which is to vote. Many members of the Masonic Family worked tirelessly to secure the rights of individuals to participate in the political process. Bobby Pamplin currently serves as Worshipful Master of the Lodge and can be reached at (601) 927-6777.
